The village of Burgau is nestled on the edge of a natural park, located 10 minutes drive, with your car hire Burgau, west of Lagos. The people of this village still live from fishing. You can watch their boats over dinner on one of the restaurant terraces. The best is to park your car hire Burgau at the entrance of the village as Burgau has lots of steep narrow cobbled streets lead down from the centre of the village to the beach and slipway. Every morning a small market is held near the bus stop. At this market you can buy kitchenware, clothes, fruit, fish, vegetables and more.
In this small village you find a few restaurants, tourist shops, a small supermarket, cafés and a small beach (Cabanas velhas). There is still an old quay there, from where stone was once shipped out; today it is used for fishing.
Heading west from Burgau, with your hire car Burgau, you find the next village named Salema. There's an interesting coastal road from Burgau, or an alternative access route down an old river valley from the main road (EN125).
